Dewi Jones, Independent Consultant, Associate and former Senior Executive of Capita SCS. With a strong background in children’s services and education management, Dewi has been a successful chief officer of education and children’s services, with responsibility for all functions relating to children’s social care and education  including Looked After Children, early intervention, early years, school improvement, special educational needs, lifelong learning, cultural services and commissioning. In this role, he prioritised the interests of vulnerable children and the LA’s community focused schools initiative as a means of promoting collaboration and integrated services. He was a Member of the Wales Assembly Government Task Force (Narrowing the Gap) and was Chair of the Association of Directors of Education in Wales (ADEW) and a recipient of several positive inspection reports, including strategic management, ACE and SEN services. In his last local government post the education service was highly commended in the LGC Awards for 2004. Before joining Capita SCS, Dewi worked as an independent management consultant. His assignments with Capita included the role of Change Adviser with Hull City Council, leading the Capita SCS team reviewing service delivery in Birmingham, assisting with major bids and undertaking two interim positions as the Senior Regional Director for the National Strategies in the East and East Midlands and later in London South. He is now an associate of Capita SCS and an independent consultant and interim manager with commissions from national and local government. Dewi is also into his second three year term as a member of the School Teacher’s Review Body for England and Wales. Dewi is bilingual and uses Welsh and English in his work, as appropriate.
